The Lid-and-Base Structure: Simple, but Engineered
A lid-and-base box looks straightforward — two pieces that fit together. But anyone who's produced them at volume knows the fit is everything. Too loose and the lid slides off in shipping. Too tight and customers struggle to open it, or worse, the board splits. We manufacture these with a consistent 0.5mm clearance between lid and base, which gives that smooth, controlled lift-off feel without any rattle. The board is 2mm rigid white chip as standard, with a smooth matte finish that resists fingerprints. For budget electronics or high-volume 3C products, we can drop to 1.5mm board to hit a tighter price point — just let us know your target cost and we'll recommend the right spec.
The Interior: Paper Tray, No Foam
Inside, a white die-cut paper tray holds the smartphone securely in a fitted recess. Below the phone, a separate cavity takes the cable, charger, and documentation — all laid out cleanly, nothing loose. We use paper tray rather than EVA or foam for two reasons: it keeps the whole package fully recyclable, and it avoids the static and debris that foam sometimes leaves on a new device's screen.
The tray is custom die-cut to your exact phone dimensions. Send us a physical unit or a 3D file and we'll cut the first sample — we always recommend testing with the actual product, because a 0.3mm gap is the difference between a phone that sits snug and one that shifts when you tilt the box.
Why White, Why Minimal
White packaging works for smartphones because it doesn't compete with the device. The phone is the product; the box is the frame. A clean white surface also gives you maximum flexibility on branding — print a logo in one color, deboss it, foil-stamp it, or leave it blank for a truly minimal look.
